Monday, December 14

We will be watching Channel 1 news today. They have a special episode about how young people view the country today compared to 40 years ago in 1969.

We are all at different places so to get us back together after Channel 1 we will finish discussing what we didn't get to last week. You will also get a worksheet on Chapter 4 Sections 3 and 4. This will be due tomorrow.

Remember State Test on Thursday and Capital Test on Friday.

Make sure you are continuing to work on your state projects. I'd like to see your State Fact Sheet by Friday. And your project will be due before you leave for Christmas break.

Thursday, December 10

Our goal for today is to discuss the USA by correcting the 4-1 and 4-2 worksheet along with the Chapter 4 Supplemental Questions.

To do this you will need to hand in your supplemental questions so I can give you a grade on them while you watch Channel 1 News.

After that we will discuss the worksheets.

Remember there is a State Test 1 week from today and a capital test a week from tomorrow.

Also you should be working on your Minnesota Project either at home or before or after school.

Thursday and Friday December 3rd and 4th

We'll be in the computer lab both Thursday and Friday. There are 3 things that we need to accomplish in the next two weeks.

1. Project on a U.S. State and a power point presentation of that state.

2. Know all 50 States, there will be a test on Thursday December 17th.

3. Know all 50 State Capitals, there will be a test on Friday December 18th.

For the States and Capitals there are numerous web sites dedicated to learning them. Many are linked to the right under the Games section.

There will be limited class time to work on these 3 things so time will need to be used before and after school and at home.

Monday, November 2

Hope your halloween was fun and safe. Sorry for not being in school today, I'm home sick. While in the computer lab today continue working on your Minnesota Project. Remember my part is due on Friday. I'm not sure about Ms. Krogstad or Mr. Kofoed's plans for the week.

So for me on Friday I'll need:

1. A 7 day itinerary including at least 15 attractions and stopping at least twice in each of the 5 area's of Minnesota: Northwest, Northeast, Central, Metro, and South.

2. A hand drawn map showing your route around the state.

For Mr. Kofoed you'll need distances travelled so make sure you get that information. And for Ms. Krogstad you'll need pictures for your travel log.

Tuesday and Wednesday we'll have a little time to work in class. And Thursday will be your last day in the computer lab. So you'll need to start finishing things up. If you have questions ask one another, help each other out. If you need to ask me something you can post a comment on the blog and I'll try to get back to you as soon as possible.

Thursday, October 29th

We'll be in the computer lab today. Here is a list of things you can be doing while in the lab.

1. Research on locations throughout the state that you may want to visit.

2. Find pictures for journal/travel log for Ms. Krogstad's class

3. Find mileage using mapquest, and cost of attractions for Mr. Kofoed's class.

You'll have time next week to finalize your itinerary. If you are to that point take a look at the itinerary and lay out your itinerary like it is set up in the webquest.

Monday, January 5

Sorry for not posting yesterday. Basically all we did was watch the Vikings game. Which didn't turn out to well. The girls went shopping while the boys stayed at home and watched the game.

On Monday we did go to the beach on base. It was about 80 with a little wind and few clouds so it was about perfect. We got to see a submarine as it left Pearl Harbor which was kind of neat. Our plane leaves tonight at 10 o'clock Hawaii time so about 2 a.m. in Crookston. We will be going through Los Angeles and Denver on our way to Fargo. We are scheduled to land about noon central time.

Saturday January 3

We went to the beach today. First to Waikiki. And then to the North Shore. Unfortunately the wind was blowing pretty hard so even though it was at least 75 degrees the windchill made it seem like it was closer to 60. In the afternoon we drove up to the north shore where the surfing is probably the best on the Island. There were waves breaking at about 8-10 feet.

Friday December 2nd

We went hiking today. I climbed to mountains and got some great pictures. We climbed Diamond Head Crater which is the crater of an old volcano that helped form Oahu. We also climbed Maka Pua. Both of them were old Military Installations so there were gun remnants and also pillboxes where the U.S. was planning on defending the Islands from invasion.

Tonight Kari and I along with Kari's sister and her husband are going to go downtown to see Waikiki at night.

Thursday, January 1st 2009

Today we went for a trip around the Island. We got to see many mountains and scenic views. We also went to Waikiki Beach. You would not believe the number of people on the beach. It is also amazing to see the hotels, and stores there, very high end. And less than a block away you have homeless people and very poor neighborhoods.

Tomorrow we are going on a couple of hikes. Up Diamond Head which is a volcanic crater. And one up to a lighthouse. You can see the lighthouse in one of the photos from today.
